Literacy Now South Okanagan-Similkameen is hosting a Family Literacy Day this month with the theme of "unplug and play." It will kick-off Family Literacy Week in Penticton.
There will be plenty of
fun activities for kids and their parents. This includes storytelling sessions, face painting, a bouncy castle and balloon animals. Entertainment will be provided by Fun 4 Life. Activity sheets will be available; those who fill out their sheet completely will qualify for prizes that will be awarded on Facebook.
In addition, several booths will be providing information on various literacy organizations; no doubt including the public library and local publishers.
Those attending are also asked to bring along gently used or new Books for children and youth to Heap the Honda.
Literacy organizations who will be participating will likely be providing those who stop by their booths with printed materials. This may involve contacting a Penticton printing company to order products such as Brochures, Flyers and Booklets.
Literacy Now South Okanagan-Similkameen promotes literacy provides services to the community such as workshops on topics like clear language writing and supports organizations that teach adults and others to read.
