The 31st annual Summerland Polar Bear Dip is taking place on New Year's Day. It is one of the many fundraising events held annually for the Summerland Kinsmen Club.
Participants are asked to be there on time as the dip will take place at precisely 12 noon. While costumes are not necessary, prizes will be awarded for the best team costume, best female costume and best male costume. There will also be awards for the youngest and the oldest participant.
After the dip, there will be several fires to warm up with. There will also be treats like hot dogs and hot chocolate. Those who took part will also receive a dipper t-shirt.
Proceeds from this event will go to support the Kinsmen's projects for the year. These include a youth centre, a play park, Trout Creek school, the bandshell, the Giant Heads Park trail and Dale Meadows Park which has a special playground for disabled children.
