Maple Ridge is set to mark National Tree Day with an event that will recognize the importance of its urban forest canopy.
The city has set aside a date in late September for a tree planting session, and these new additions will be installed by city staff. This will be part of a larger activity that will offer insight into the role trees can play in both the human and natural worlds.
Those who attend the gathering will have the chance to learn about the city's waterwise plantings, and several local environmental advocacy and the other organizations have been invited to take part by setting up a display or other exhibits. The event will run for three hours at Jim Hadgkiss Park, which will be the venue for the activity. It can be a fun way for kids to learn about the world around them.
Special events like this bring people together, and can be part of building a strong community. A poster printing company will be pleased to lend hand by crafting materials that can effectively spread the word about upcoming activities.
Maple Ridge will be giving trees and the role they play in the environment a tip of the hat on September 25th. It will run from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and all are welcome.
