Maple Ridge to explore wonders of whales

Whales are considered by many to be gentle giants of the sea, and a Maple Ridge activity will take a deep dive into their lives and ecology.

Set for later this month, The Ocean Wise: Wonderful Whales activity will welcome one and all at the Maple Ridge Public Library. It will take place in the afternoon on its scheduled date, and all ages may enjoy this in-person event.

The activity will be facilitated by a representative of Ocean Wise, and it will introduce the whales and other animal species that call Canada's west coast waters home. It will include a 20-minute-long interactive presentation that provides details about why whales are so important, how they were viewed in different First Nations cultures and also what the public can do to keep them safe and protected for future generations.

After the lecture portion of the session, it will be time for everyone to get some hands-on experience exploring an assortment of ocean inspired artifacts, and attendees can ask any questions they might have.
