The final Repair Cafe of the year unfolded at the Maple Ridge Public Library on November 18. Organizer Leanne Koehn explained that there were lines stretching out the door for nearly two hours, as people eagerly sought to have their items repaired before the year's end. Tons of different items have been brought in to the cafes, including different electric devices, clothing, and jewellery.
This marked the sixth straight year of Repair Cafe events in Maple Ridge, with a total of nine gatherings held throughout 2023. A dedicated team of volunteers played a crucial role, successfully repairing a total of 626 items during these events.
Speaking to the Maple-Ridge Pitt Meadows News, Koehn said:
“We have very dedicated volunteers. We have been able to assist and inspire other […] municipalities to start up their own Repair Cafes.”
Events like these are ways for businesses to connect to their community. Flyer printing can help such businesses network by providing a material for them to distribute to others.
The community will not have to wait long for the next repair event, with the first cafe of 2024 planned for this coming February.
