Maple Ridge repair cafe to welcome public

A repair cafe can help to keep items out of local landfills, and one of these events is set to be on offer in Maple Ridge.

For a span of four hours, members of the public will be able to take broken items in need of repair to the Maple Ridge bandstand located in Memorial Peace Park, and here, they will find a group of volunteers who are ready to help. Small electronics, jewellery, appliances and furniture are just some of the pieces that can find new life. Funding for this event has been provided through a grant from Vancity’s enviroFund.

Those would like to have an item fixed are encouraged to bring their children along with them, as one of the goals of the day is to help teach kids how things work and the value of reusing instead of just throwing them away. Stickers, promotional Pens and other promotional products can be prepared for an activity like this, and these can be given to any attendee. There no cost to the repairs, and everyone is welcome.

The “We Can Fix That!” Maple Ridge Repair Cafe will be setting up on September 19th, and will run from 10am until 2pm. Anyone who would like to discuss details about the function has been asked to contact the event’s organizers.
