Maple Ridge invited to get hooked on new hobby

Rug hooking techniques have been in use for centuries, and a Maple Ridge area learning opportunity will introduce the practice to a whole new crop of crafters.

The Hooked by Rug Hooking workshop, which is intended for those aged 13 and up, will provide an introduction to rug hooking. It will be focused on the fundamentals so that everyone who takes part can get started right away, and it will be a hands-on event.

The learners will be taught some of the basic stitches, as well as how and when to use them, and directional hooking will be discussed as well. The group will find out how they can create a rug pile, and an assortment of tools will be on hand for them to try. Those who get hooked on the hobby will even be able to purchase the supplies they need to get started at the event.

Offering the public a chance to take part in a class like this is a way for a community to foster its creative side. A flyer printing company will be able to help keep the public well-informed of when such activities and classes are on offer in their area.

The Hooked by Rug Hooking workshop has been scheduled for the afternoon of October 16th. It is being offered free of charge.
