Residents of Maple Ridge will have a unique opportunity to take advantage of the experience of volunteers who can help them repair a multitude of items at the upcoming Repair Café event, which is being held at the Maple Ridge Library next month.
From a busted bicycle, holes in a favourite sweater and missing links in a necklace chain to a stuffed toy that needs mending or a toaster that will not toast, visitors to the Repair Café can find someone who can offer advice and instruction on how to get their broken treasures back in working condition.
Joining the Repair Café team will be members of the Ridge Meadows Quilters’ Guild, who will be on hand to demonstrate quilting techniques to those interested in learning a new hobby. Guild members will also be available to assist anyone with a beloved quilt in need of mending.
Adding to the library’s own displays, the Museum on the Move will also be present at the event. This mobile version of the Maple Ridge Museum is a unique pop-up mini exhibit that brings history on the road with visual displays and interactive activities that are presented by local historians.
The Repair Café will run from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, March 18th. More information can be obtained by phoning the organizers.
