Maple Ridge event to mark apple harvest

The apple crops are in, and in Maple Ridge, that means it is time for a special community celebration.

The city is home to Haney House Museum, and the site has plans in the works for its Apple Harvest Festival. This activity will combine a modern-style festival with historical elements, and those who attend the function will learn about the area's agricultural past.

The celebration will give community members an opportunity to sample a variety of apples that are grown in the area at the Haney House orchard, and everyone can also enjoy some freshly pressed cider. If the weather proves cooperative, there will be games set up out on the lawn, and prizes will be presented. Admission is free, but there will be an option for the participants to pay what they can, and the proceeds will be utilized by the museum.

This activity is being presented as part of a larger Culture Days community-wide schedule of events. Banner printing for such occasions will be on offer at area printers.

The Apple Harvest Festival will be putting a smile on the faces of young and old alike on Sunday, October 2nd from 11 am to 2 pm. It is being presented thanks to the efforts of the Maple Ridge Historical Society, and everyone is encouraged to take part.
