Maple Ridge event to be vehicle free

A day that will show the benefits of leaving the car or other vehicle at home is on the agenda for Maple Ridge, and this celebration will help to open the summer shopping season for the community’s downtown core.

The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association will be combining its Car Free Day festivities with those that mark National Indigenous Peoples Day to create an experience that will be filled with both fun and learning. There will be plenty of activities on offer, and it will give the neighbourhood’s businesses a chance to showcase what they have to offer.

While the public engages in some retail therapy, they can also try out the activities and learn about the history of local First Nations. The foodies in the crowd can stop by one of more than 15 food trucks that will be rolling in for the occasion, and with an artisan market and live entertainment on offer, it can be a gathering that attendees can fondly remember.

Being included in this type of community function can give a food truck owner a way of introducing his or her operation to the public, and if they stop by their local printing services company ahead of time, they can have a vehicle wrap prepared and installed so it looks its best for the occasion.

This pedestrian-friendly function will be bringing Maple Ridge together on June 21st. Many of the activities will be taking place in Memorial Peace Park.
