Maple Ridge braves cold night for charity

This February, tens of thousands of Canadians will brave the cold to raise money for compassion in their communities with the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk.

The annual CNOY walk for charity began in 2011 and, since then, it has raised over $56,000,000 in 166 communities across Canada. This year, funds raised by teams in Maple Ridge will help the ‘Food for the Soul Project’, a non-profit group that assists people struggling with mental health and addictions by providing them with the resources they need to access and connect with healthcare professionals in a safe, caring environment.

Teams and individuals can register up until 4pm on February 25th, with the walk beginning at 5pm on February 25th, 2023. However, teams are encouraged to register in advance to be able to monitor and track their fundraising goals through the CNOY23 website. The routes will begin at the intersection of 203 St. and Dewdney Trunk Rd and then proceed east 5km or north 2km.

The CNOY walk provides a logoed toque to all participants who raise $150+ ($75+ for those under 18) and encourages them to be worn not only during the event, but afterwards as well. Many businesses find that distributing promotional products like this increases awareness of their services.

Information on registration, routes, and schedules can be found on the CNOY website.
