Maple Ridge bids fond farewell to fishy friends

Many species of pacific salmon start their lives in B.C. rivers and streams, and an upcoming Maple Ridge activity will allow the public to release these animals to the big sea.

Those who attend the Goodbye Chums 2024 event will bid some baby chum salmon a fond farewell as they start their journey to the sea. They will be released into Kanaka Creek, and there will be a variety of other fun on offer as well to mark the occasion.

The participants will be able to view a variety of displays related to the life cycle of salmon and other environmental topics. The importance of the local watershed and how to protect it will be highlighted, and all ages are welcome. The younger attendees will be invited to release some of the fish, and everyone will be encouraged to ask questions. The gathering has been organized by the Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society (K.E.E.P.S.), and it will run for three hours.

Many “green” activities may be very family friendly, making them a popular choice for parents and kids alike. These are often hosted by environmental organizations, and printers can prepare promotional Pens and other items printed with a group's Logo Design.

The Goodbye Chums 2024 event will take place on April 27th in Kanaka Creek Regional Park. The park can be found at 11484 - 256th Street.
