Maple Ridge will be adding its name to the list of communities that will be taking time to do a good turn for the less fortunate.
Families, individuals and workplaces have been asked to consider being part of a walk that will both raise funds and awareness to help fight homelessness. To remind everyone of how tough it can be for those who have nowhere to call home, it will be held in February, which is often one of the coldest months of the year.
In Maple Ridge, to help make it possible for as many people to get involved with the activity, in-person and virtual fundraising walks will be held. Everyone will need to check in in person, and toques that feature the event’s Logo Design will be distributed to those who meet certain fundraising goals. The walkers will set out after some remarks to the crowd, and once the registrants have completed their route, a light meal will be served. The participants can choose from a 2km or 5km course, and signage will be placed along the way.
Those who prefer to walk on their own will still receive a toque, and they will be able to arrange a time to pick it up.
The Maple Ridge Coldest Night of the Year walk will be commencing at 5:15 pm on February 26th. Its website provides registration links, as well as more details about where the walk will take place.
