Maple Ridge area planning fall golf fundraising classic

The Prostate Cancer Foundation, BC works to both find a cure and support those living with the illness, and it has invited Maple Ridge golfers to get into the swing of things during an upcoming fundraiser.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and to make the occasion, the “Pars for Prostate'' fundraising day will be taking place at Westwood Plateau Golf in Coquitlam. As one in every eight men living in Canada will be diagnosed with this disease, the planners are hoping there will be a great turnout.

This day of golf is open to those of all skill levels, from the beginner all the way to professional players. It will follow a best ball format and there will be a shotgun start . Once the game is over, everyone will head to the clubhouse for celebratory dinner and awards presentation. There are tickets on offer for the full experience or just the meal. There are enough spaces in the activity to accommodate 144 golfers.

To help make sure the function goes off without a hitch, the organizers have put out a call seeking volunteers. A printing services company will be able to prepare small gifts to present to each person who lends a hand with an event.

This outing planned with local golfers in mind will hit the course on September 22nd. Those who sign up are welcome to arrive and check in starting at 10:30 am.
