Bookings open for Maple Ridge blood drive

Maple Ridge residents have been asked to roll up their sleeves to save someone's life by donating blood.

The blood donation drive will be on offer at Maple Ridge Alliance Church on Dewdney Trunk Road. It will be open to the public for two days, and everyone who plans on coming out is encouraged to speak to their friends and family and ask them to give the gift of life as well.

To help prevent the spread of COVID, appointments are required to participate in the activity. Canadian Blood Services has set up an online booking system so that those who are interested can easily book their individual time slot. Medical masks will be provided to the donors, and all donors are advised to eat a salty snack and drink a half liter of water before the event.

The entire process will take about an hour, and appointments may be available for groups of friends, family or colleagues who would like to participate together. A poster printing company can aid in spreading the word about this type of community function. The materials it prepares can be placed in prominent locations in the local area, helping to raise public awareness.

Canadian Blood Services will have its mobile collection station set up in Maple Ridge on May 27th and 28th. Its booking system can be accessed through its website.
