Richmond Delta Regional Heritage Fair

Residents of Delta will want to be sure to mark their calendar for Saturday, May 7 as this when the ninth annual Richmond Delta Regional Heritage Fair will be held.

It will be a grand celebration of our country’s heritage. Last year, over 150,000 students nationwide contributed to the fair. This year’s festival will have many family activities and feature over 70 displays. There is bound to be something for everyone.

Students have been encouraged to discover the heritage and history of Canada. Their findings are exhibited to the public at the annual heritage fair. Participating students choose the type of media in which they wish to present their findings. Stories about legends, achievements, provincial, national and local heroes will be presented to the public and fair’s judges.

This year, judges consist of Faye O’Niel (aboriginal support worker), Gwen Szychter (local author and historian), Heather King (councillor), Laura Dixon (school trustee), Guillermo Bustos (educational consultant), Val Windsor (Delta Heritage Advisory Commission) and Mark Sakai (executive director, Delta Museum and Archives).

Delta is being represented by South Park, Ladner, Devon Gardens and McCloskey elementary schools.
There is no charge for admission. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7. The Richmond Cultural Centre is the venue of this year’s fair.

Print companies in Delta are readily available to meet the demands for poster printing and banner printing for exhibits such as these and they also have the expertise to print other promotional materials for such events.
