The City of Delta will be holding its annual Canada Day celebration with a “Larger than Life” theme this year, aiming to create a unique experience for the community.
The festivities will include oversized games and food items, including a “big cake” for Canada’s 159th birthday. The daytime festival will include curated local food trucks and vendors, including the North Delta Lions’ famous barbecue. Organizers will also be putting together a giant flag mural. Delta residents can take a Polaroid photo and have it added to the mural to represent the community.
Visitors can also sign up for athletic activities, including a Bubble Soccer match to celebrate Delta’s Soccer Fan Zones that run throughout June and July. The festival will also include a super-sized water fight, with participants encouraged to bring a bathing suit and towel. Racket enthusiasts can sign up for the Great Big Delta Pickleball Smash, a tournament with prizes.
The evening will conclude with public ceremonies and live performances from local musical artists, followed by the traditional fireworks shows. Municipalities across Canada celebrate this occasion, using methods like murals and banner printing to help recognize local contributors. Previous years’ events in Delta have also included children’s performers and booths from community groups.
The 2026 Delta celebration of Canada Day will take place on the evening of July 1 at Chalmers Park.
