Delta storytellers to present Killer Verse

The Killer Verse event will be back in Delta for a sixth year this October, looking for local writers to bring their best scary and mysterious stories to the stage.

The live reading will feature submissions from local authors and poets themed to fit the Halloween season. Writers will partner with local actors to bring their stories to life with on-stage performances. Readings in past years have worn season-appropriate costumes, used props and interacted with others on stage to create a compelling show.

Each story will run approximately five to eight minutes, with several chilling tales featured in a single night. The stories this year will focus on the theme of urban legends and folklore. The event is hosted by the Delta Literary Arts Society with the goal of showcasing local creators, as well as providing paid work for emerging writers.

Food and drink will be provided to suit the spooky season. Authors at events like this often use Promotional Products like bookmarks to hand out and promote their writing. Past shows have emphasized creators from British Columbia ranging from teen writers to horror fiction vets. Advertising for the show states that:

“Equal parts eerie, theatrical, and unforgettable, Killer Verse 2026 is a one-night-only tradition that proves horror is alive and thriving in our community.”

The 2026 edition of Killer Verse will take place on the evening of October 24 at the North Delta Centre for the Arts.
