The City of Delta will celebrate Youth Week this May with its multifaceted Youthapalooza event.
The event will revolve around a barbecue with a festival area aimed at youth aged 13 to 18. The area will include a truck full of arcade games and a fair for jobs and volunteer opportunities. Job fairs like this often see exhibitors using brochure printing and signage to help explain the opportunities available and better connect with visitors.
Another major attraction will be a Youth 3v3 Basketball Tournament, featuring fast-paced half court action. Players will be sorted into division based on age, and can register as individuals and be placed into trios. There will also be an open stage area featuring young performers from the Delta community, such as musicians, poets and dancers. Athletes and performers must register in advance.
Youth can also get active with a Silent Dance Party. Each participant will be provided with a headset that will have three different channels of music available, allowing for different styles and tastes. Snacks, drinks and glowing accessories will be provided. Youth Week is an annual nationwide celebration of young people and their contributions to their community, and takes place this year from May 1 to 7.
Youthpalooza will take place on May 8 at the North Delta Recreation Centre. A shuttle service will be provided to and from the event.
