Delta workshop to offer information for new autism parents

A workshop for families with a child who has recently received an autism diagnosis is scheduled for Delta.

Many parents and caregivers can feel overwhelmed when their child has been diagnosed with autism, and the Reach Child and Youth Development Society’s New Parent Orientation will offer tips and other information that may be useful to them. While all are welcome, pre-registration is required, and it will run for two hours.

During the function, the attendees will learn about what an autism diagnosis means, and they will also discover what resources are available in the local community to help them. The different treatment options will be discussed, and a review of government programming and other services is also on the agenda. The parents will also have a chance to meet other families, which will provide them with an opportunity to start building a support network.

Those who participate in this sort of activity often appreciate receiving publications they can take home with them to read after the event has drawn to a close. A brochure printing company will be able to supply these.

The New Parent Orientation has been scheduled for April 28th. The venue for the function is the Reach Child and Youth Development Society’s building, which can be found at 5050 47 Avenue in Delta.
