If you own an electric vehicle (EV) in Delta, you’ll be able to charge your car more easily pretty soon.
The city is asking for contractor proposals to install more EV charging stations that will be supplied by the city as a part of the Electric Vehicle Strategy.
The proposals should include 21 public charging stations, along with 10 fleet charging stations. Contractors will be responsible for assembling and installing the stations. The city received a $200,000 grant for the charging station earlier this year from the Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, part of Natural Resources Canada.
Delta was also given $25,000 from the provincial government as part of the CleanBC Go Electric Public Charger Program. British Columbia has also recently announced it plans to speed up its zero-emission targets, which could lead to more EV charging station funding for Delta and surrounding cities in the future.
The new charging stations are planned for sites around the city of Delta. Some of the planned locations include Diefenbaker Park, the Douglas Husband Discovery Centre, and the Kennedy Seniors’ Centre. Environmentally friendly initiatives like this one can be promoted to the general public using items from Print shops in the local area.
The new stations will add to the 30 level-two civic charging stations currently operated by the city. Plans are currently in place to make the charging stations operational by the end of 2023.Get a Free Quote for Print
