Canada Post seals deal for direct mail program
Small printing companies in Coquitlam responsible for handling mailing for their small business clients can now expect to be included in Canada Post’s very successful Registered Partner Program. The program was begun two years ago to encourage using printers and similar companies in the creation and use of direct mail. The corporation says that since 2009, 366 partners have enrolled in the program, including large print services, data shops and advertising firms. Up until now, the Registered Partner Program has been a vehicle to connect business with larger direct mail providers, including access to marketing tools, how-to instructions and webinars. Now, Canada Post is reconfiguring the program especially for lower volume print shops which do the same type of direct mail work, such as flyer printing, for clients that are classified by Revenue Canada as “small business”.
There is no cost to enroll in the program, however; print shops wishing to join must view a compulsory video introducing the program and complete a tutorial online regarding the fundamentals of creating direct mail pieces.
A Canada Post strategist, Eleanor Rafter, says this will “enable printers to prepare, target and induct mail for small business in their area” in addition to providing services such as poster, flyer and catalog printing in Coquitlam and it's surrounding areas.
Once a printer is registered in the program, all information and necessary tools are accessible online, such as marketing and sales instructions. They can also register to be included in a mail supplier directory to list their business’s specialty services and contact info. A dedicated website is in the works.
