The gala will be raising money for the Port Coquitlam Professional Firefighters Charitable Society, which is organized by off-duty firefighters to benefit the community. The group contributes to charities active in areas like Coquitlam such as the BC Burn Fund and Muscular Dystrophy Canada, as well as running a scholarship fund and school breakfast programs. The organization describes its mission as:

The inaugural Port Coquitlam Mayor’s Charity Gala will take place on the evening of June 14. The location of the event will be a surprise to be announced later.
