After a successful first event, the second annual Tri-Cities Writers Festival will be held in Coquitlam this May, aiming to support writers from throughout the Lower Mainland area.
The event is a collaboration between the public libraries of Coquitlam and Port Moody as well as the Terry Fox Library and the Tri-City Wordsmiths Organizations. Over 13 published authors will be featured across the course of four days, passing down their wisdom to writers of all levels. Festivities will kick off with a self-editing workshop led by writer Jennifer Sommersby dealing with the practical side of editing a manuscript into publishable shape. The first full day of the festival will feature a cocktail reception and panel discussion with three visiting writers, moderated by local comedian and author Ryan Murphy.
The event’s keynote speech will be given by Governor’s General Award-nominated memoirist Danny Ramadan at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody. The final day will see a workshop on travelogues by author Bill Arnott and a panel on publishing from local authors, dealing with how to navigate options ranging from traditional houses to self-publishing through printing services. Other featured authors include Hannah Mary McKinnon, AJ Devlin, and Christina Myers.
The 2025 Tri-Cities Writers Festival will take place from May 28 to 31 at the Coquitlam Public Library’s City Centre branch and other locations.
