Wounded Warriors weekend coming to Chilliwack

Chilliwack will be playing host to the 2015 Wounded Warriors Weekend, with veterans, first responders and prison guards from Canada, Australia, the UK and the United States all invited to attend.

It is expected that more than 250 participants who are facing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related issues will come together to relax, network and build relationships at the event. There is no charge to attend, with all costs, from transportation to accommodations and meals, being covered.

Organizers for the weekend are looking for volunteers to help out with a variety of tasks. Positions are available in helping to lead activities, prepare meals, set up and break down the welcome centre, escort participants to the different locations, and provide assistance in other capacities as needed.

A secondary goal for the function, which is scheduled to run from July 31st until August 3rd, is to help raise awareness of PTSD and how it affects the lives of former military personnel, as well as those involved in lifesaving and law enforcement. A printing company can produce Posters and other items that can help to get the word out to the public about this subject.

Donations are also being accepted to help fund the event and travel costs for the participants. Those who wish to make a contribution or find out more about the Wounded Warriors organization are invited to visit its website.
