The Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra will be inviting music lovers to experience “A Night in Vienna” this May as part of its annual fundraising gala.
The event is inspired by the music and times of Johan Strauss, the 19th-century composer known for his dance music. The orchestra will be playing some of Strauss’s best-known work, including the Blue Danube Waltz, Emperor Waltz and Die Fledermaus, with 40 musicians on stage. Visitors can take to the dance floor for a classic waltz or less traditional dancing.
A Night in Vienna is part of the Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society’s Visions Series. Musical performers will be led by the orchestra’s Conductor and Artistic Director, Shannon Goldsmith. Gala events like this can be very effective fundraisers, often using poster printing and social media to help advertise to potential attendees.
The gala will also include a buffet dinner and a live auction. Proceeds from the auction and ticket sales for A Night in Vienna will go towards the Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra to fund its ongoing operations and future seasons. This event will be the final one of the orchestra’s 2025-26 season, following shows like Spring Passion. The community group has also teased a major project for its 2026-27 slate.
A Night in Vienna will take place at Evergreen Hall in Chilliwack on the evening of May 23.
