New market series launches in Chilliwack

This summer sees the debut of the Chilliwack Emporium event series, which aims to provide a marketplace for local artisans and small businesses.

The event launched with a successful premiere on May 27 and 28. Future Emporiums are scheduled to take place one weekend a month until the end of August. Each marketplace will provide a variety of vendors and food trucks, showcasing Chilliwack’s revitalized downtown core. Vendors at the first edition included Fifth Avenue Collection, Golden Apple Labs, and Little House Creations. Admission is free, with early visitors receiving a “swag bag” full of complimentary items, such as “vendor bucks” that can be used anywhere within the market.

The inaugural Emporium also included live music, food trucks such as the Fuzzy Gourmet Grill and Golden Bannock, and free basket drawings. Future editions will be open to new vendors, as well as returning ones. Marketplaces such as this, often advertised through tools such as poster printing and social media, help small businesses and artisans gain valuable exposure.

The marketplace is sponsored by Hidden Gems Events, which stresses the historic Chilliwack Princess Armories location:

“Built in 1913, it has been a site for both military and civilian use and to this day, it has still welcomed everyone through its' doors. Hidden Gem Events is beyond grateful to continue carrying the torch of community appreciation for the building.”

Future editions of the Chilliwack Emporium will take place June 17-18, July 22-23, and August 19-20 at the Chilliwack Princess Armories.
