Horse show to ride into Chilliwack

The Can-Am All Breeds Equine Expo will make its Western Canada debut this April with a weekend-long horse show in Chilliwack.

The expo is traditionally held in Ancaster, Ontario, but this year it is holding a second show in hopes of going “coast to coast for the love of the horse.” It aims to promote the equestrian lifestyle and attract horse lovers, riders, breeders, trainers, and others involved in the equine industry.

There will be a show floor full of vendors offering products and services related to horse grooming, feeding, and training. There will also be dozens of educational sessions and clinics relating to all things horse. Featured speakers include horse trainer and modern pentathlete Tik Maynard and Three Hats Training Center owner Michael Wakefield.

The evenings will host a special Magic of Horses show featuring rodeo riding and tricks. The shows will include 12-year-old cowgirl Piper Yule and, for the Sunday show, Heartland star Amber Marshall. Horse and farm shows like this rely on community contributions and grassroots marketing, using methods like flyer printing or social media to help attract local animal-lovers. The Ancaster show attracted close to 10,000 attendees last year, and organizers are hoping for a similar turn-out in the event’s Western debut.

The 2024 Western edition of the Can-Am All Breeds Equine Expo will be held at Chilliwack Heritage Park from April 12 to 14.
