December is almost here and thoughts are turning to Christmas and the celebrations that will be taking place almost everywhere throughout Chilliwack and the rest of British Columbia. There will be many different events taking place in the city in December. One special celebration will take place at Jingle Bell Lane. It is sponsored by the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association and its goal is to completely light up the park to celebrate the joy of the Christmas season.
Jingle Bell Lane will be located in Central Community Park and will feature illuminated Christmas floats that have been designed by individual citizens, local businesses, and community organizations. Each float will be fully illuminated and will remain stationary. Those who wish to decorate a float must register before this Friday, November 23. Chilliwack businesses can use this as an opportunity to make themselves known in the community and to be seen as a company that cares about the city. Local printing companies can help them do this by providing printing services such as banner printing. A large colorful banner hung over a lighted float will let everyone know which company produced it.
Jingle Bell Lane will be only be open for one evening, on December 1 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The evening will also feature the Christmas tree lighting, a Christmas carol sing-along and a visit from Santa Claus. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash to donate to the food bank. For more information, call 604-792-4576.
