Chilliwack is a popular spot to call home, but wildfires can be a pertinent risk to the community. A workshop that may help residents be prepared for these natural disasters will be on offer to the public this August.
The course, which is scheduled to last for three hours, has a syllabus filled with information that can help homeowners work with firefighters and other first responders to help keep their home and property safe in case of wildfires. It will follow the recommendations laid out in the FireSmart program, and upon completion, the learners will be able to perform an assessment test on their own house, following the FireSmart principles.
The registration fee for the seminar is $49.99, and this includes both the instruction and a FireSmart Canada Guide to Landscaping, and also a FireSmart Homeowner’s Manual. A printing services provider can supply bound items like these, and can offer an assortment of binding techniques to suit the different needs and budgets of its customers. The students who register are asked to make sure they bring along a pen or pencil so that they can jot down any points they feel are important.
The BC FireSmart Homeowner’s FireSmart Assessment training session will be offered on Chilliwack’s Tzeachten Community Centre Boardroom on August 10. There are spaces available for up to 12 attendees.
