Chilliwack to party into spring
Chilliwack will be hosting a special Party in the Park event this May, combining different cultural influences into one unique event.
The event is set to take place on the first weekend of May, and as such will be blending together celebrations of the traditional Cinco de Mayo festival, otherwise known as the Day of the Dead, held on May 5th, and Star Wars Day, which is celebrated on May 4th. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes, whether they be traditional face paint to celebrate the Mexican holiday, outfits from a galaxy far, far away, or a combination of the two. There will be costume contests, with the best entries winning gift certificates for food trucks at the festival.
In addition to the chance to dress up, the festival will play host to a bevy of local food trucks from across the province. There will also be an artisan market providing unique gifts, artwork, and crafts. Vendors at events like this often seek to make connections with potential customers through everything from business cards to special samples. Other attractions at the festival include live performances curated by MacDonald Entertainment Media, a beer garden area, and a kid zone with face painting and other crafts.
The 2024 Chilliwack Party in the Park will take place on May 4 and May 5 at Central Community Park.
