While June is usually the time when graduates walk across the stage to receive their degree or diploma, this year may not afford them an opportunity to do so. The community would still like to honour their achievements, and 98.3 Star radio wants to help.
The station has teamed up with Heritage Dental centre to salute high school and university graduates in a special way. It will give the public a way to salute graduates’ hard work even if they cannot do so in person.
The organizers of the effort explained that to take part, someone who wants to recognize a student is asked to text “GRAD” as well as their name to 123-321, and a staff member will call back with a time to record a personal message. As many of these will be played as possible, and the individual who left the congratulations will be called so they will know when to tune in.
Due to social distancing and other restrictions, typical graduation ceremonies may not be taking place, but families and whole communities can still recognize the grads. A banner printing company can help with this sort of project, creating Banners that offer heartfelt congratulations to those who have worked hard to achieve academic success.
This chance for Chilliwack families to offer a tip of the hat to their graduating student will be ongoing throughout the month of June. Additional details about how to take part can be found on the Star FM website.
