Chilliwack run to go from Canyon to Coast

The Canyon to Coast run will be taking place in Chilliwack this June, challenging local runners to an endurance test for a good cause.

The run will go across some of Chilliwack’s most scenic surroundings including the Cheam Mountain Range and Fraser River, all across mainly flat roads and wide paths. Runners can sign up for the traditional 42-kilometre marathon distance or 21, 11, or 4 kilometre runs. Finish times will be tracked manually, with awards and prizes for the top 3 overall finishers provided by Garrison Running Co, but participants are encouraged to take the trails at their own pace. There will also be a random draw so that all runners have the chance to take home a prize from event sponsors.

Canyon to Coast is being organized by Run Like a Girl, which encourages female fitness, and aims to be a family-friendly event. Part of each registration fee will go towards the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Canada, which helps provide Books and other literacy material to children. Runners can also participate virtually, running a time or distance of their choice wherever they live. Road races like this often use methods like poster printing and social media to help reach local athlete sand those interested in contributing to the community.

The Canyon to Coast run will take place on the morning of June 7, beginning at Island 22 Regional Park in Chilliwack.
