Chilliwack concert to bring oldies touch to holidays

An upcoming Chilliwack show will combine the hits of the 1950s with holiday cheer as “Buddy’s Holly Jolly Christmas” comes to town.

The show is helmed by Zachary Stevenson, best known for portraying legendary musician Buddy Holly in the musical The Buddy Holly Story. Stevenson will be taking up the Holly mantle again, playing some of the artist’s biggest hits as well as an array of holiday standards. Stevenson will be supported by the Lovettes, a tribute act to female icons from the 1950s and 1960s. The group is inspired by artists like The Shirelles and Chiffons, and have received endorsements from members of those groups. The Legends All-Star Band will provide instrumental support to the singers, featuring “Mr. Sax” Johnny Ferreira.

The concert will be one of several on Stevenson and the Lovettes’ holiday tour as the Vancouver-based singer plays ten shows in twelve days across British Columbia. Tribute concerts like this are a popular way to pay tribute to yesteryear, often using methods like flyer printing and radio advertising to help reach local music lovers. The show is also promoted under the Original Legends of Rock and Roll banner, which organizes similar tributes to the music of prior generations.

Buddy’s Holly Jolly Christmas will take place in Chilliwack on the evening of December 3 at the HUB International Theatre.
