The Burnaby Board of Trade is going online in its efforts to draw new business into the community.
The president and CEO of the organization, Paul Holden, recently outlined the board’s plan to the city council.
He remarked that it will be a shift from its usual role as an economic development agency, and instead, it will be taking on a more proactive approach. It has consulted with different businesses and organizations to seek their input into the project.
The website will be divided into eight sections that are designed to give a snapshot of life in the city, and the benefits of doing business there. A short video from Tourism Burnaby will be uploaded for viewing, and it will also include information about available commercial spaces for development where they may wish to set up shop.
Users of the site will be able to follow links in it to different pages on the city’s website. Brochure printers can draw in more traffic by creating promotional pamphlets, and other materials that include a QR code that will allow readers to quickly reach the site while using their smartphone or other device.
The mayor noted that he is pleased with the efforts and how they reflect on the good working relationship between it and the Board of Trade. According to Holden, the site is about 95 percent complete.
