The ‘Emily Carr: Deep Forest’ exhibition will be showing at the Vancouver Art Gallery until next March.
It highlights the forest paintings of Carr, which were mainly produced in the 1930s. The show is curated by Ian M. Thom and works have been drawn from the gallery's permanent collection.
These paintings show how deeply the artist was influenced by modernist painters such as Mark Tobey and Lawren Harris. Emily Carr is well-known for producing works depicting the west coast landscapes close to her home city of Victoria.
This, however, will not be the only exhibition dedicated to a well-known Canadian artist. Upcoming shows beginning in March will be dedicated to Lawren Harris (member of the Group of 7) and Edward Burtynsky.
These showcase events are expected to attract visitors from all over the area, including those in nearby Burnaby. People who are employed by graphics and printings companies may also be attracted to get inspiration for their own works.
‘Emily Carr: Deep Forest’ is showing at the Vancouver Art Gallery until March 9. Both the Lawren Harris and Edward Burtynsky exhibits will start in March.
The gallery is open seven days a week. Admission is $17 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $6 for children aged five and up; a family pass for two adults and up to four children is $50. Those who are looking for more information are encouraged to visit the venue’s official website or to drop by in person.
