Lego Games set to take place in Burnaby

The residents of Burnaby are set to get creative as the Vancouver Lego Games are coming to the area in March.

The event, which is the brainchild of five University of British Columbia, will allow Lego builders to show off their skills. All proceeds from the event will go to support Canuck Place Children's Hospital.

The theme of the event is yet to be announced. Builders will have the opportunity to build a model based on that theme; they will be given 15 minutes in which to create an original design. The competition will be divided up into various age categories with the winner of each receiving a prize. Those taking part in the Lego Games can also build a Lego creation at home and bring it with them to share with their fellow builders and spectators. There will also be live entertainment between the creating and judging.

Canuck Place offers services for up to 400 children who are struggling with life threatening diseases or who require hospice care. The hospital provides a home-like environment to make children and their families feel more at ease.

Organizers may have decided to work with Burnaby printing companies to advertise this unique upcoming event with the help of a flyer.

The Vancouver Lego Games will take place at the Firefighters’ Club in Burnaby. Admission is $3 for spectators. Entry fees for those building their creations on site are $20, for those bringing their own are $10; to take part in both the fee is $25.
