Herbs can be grown at home, whether someone has a big yard, a balcony or just a sunny windowsill with enough room for some pots, and a Burnaby workshop will soon point the way.
Gardenworks will be offering an introduction to the art of growing herbs at home, and it will be geared towards the budding home horticulturist. It will be focused on culinary herbs, as well as edible flowers, and it will be a hands-on occasion.
The Culinary Herb Garden Workshop activity will introduce some popular herbs for the kitchen, which can all be harvested during the summer months. There will be experts on hand to help everyone choose the species and cultivars best suited to their needs, location and budget. Attendees will be guided through the steps of planting their personal herb garden, and the type of plants on offer will depend on what is available at the time.
As many herbs and edible flowers, such as pansies, can be easy to grow, they can be a fun way to get some gardening experience. Tip sheets, plant and garden tags, seed Envelopes and other materials for a workshop like this will be available at area Print shops.
Gardenworks’ Burnaby-Lougheed location will be providing the inside scoop on successful herb growing during the Culinary Herb Garden Workshop on April 12th. The class will begin at 10:00 am.
