Going meat free can be an easier proposition than many might think, and a Burnaby class will show just how tasty it can be to make the change.
A cookery workshop that pays homage to Chef Yotam Ottolenghi is in the works, and it will wrap up the city’s January culinary calendar. It will put Mediterranean flavours in the spotlight, and the dish prepared will be filled with flavours and textures.
Learners will be walked through several Lebanese and Mediterranean style recipes and everyone will be able to brush up on the kitchen skills. It will be a hands-on experience, and the menu includes sweet potato cakes, a zucchini salad, braised squash and potatoes and coconut ice cream. Anyone with special dietary considerations may be accommodated , but it's been requested that arrangements for this be made well in advance by contacting the organizers.
A cookery class provides a fun way for the attendees to learn a new dish to add to their personal repertoire. Recipe cards can be prepared by Stationery printers to hand out, and they can be laminated so they may be wiped clean in case of kitchen spills.
This introduction to the joys of going eat free is scheduled for January 31st. It will begin at 6:00 pm at The Gray Olive Cafeteria located at 4190 Hastings Street in Burnaby.
