What's Happening in Burnaby, BC…

A recently released report indicates that Burnaby’s drinking water is getting better and better.

The document, which was presented to the mayor and city council, indicates that the partnership between Burnaby and Metro Vancouver has allowed it to deliver high quality and safe water to its residents. It went on to say that that it does so in compliance with all of the guidelines and regulations that had been set within the province.

During the discussion, it was noted that most of the water used is not consumed as drinking water, instead it is used for other purposes, such as washing clothes, flushing toilets and bathing. It was noted by the counselors and mayor alike that it is important that the public are aware of how much is used so that there is no shortage. A printing company can produce informational leaflets that spread the word to the public about the importance of conserving water so that it will be available when they want or need to use it.

The mayor also pointed out that this is especially important during the summer months, when water levels in the sources that are drawn upon can become lower than at the rest of the year. He further remarked that he is pleased and proud that Burnaby has some of the highest quality water in the world.
