Burnaby invited to local beach planting event

A fall cleanup and planting event has been scheduled for Trout Lake Swimming Beach, and residents of Burnaby are invited to roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

The event has been organized by the Wildcoast Ecological Society, and the area around the lake will be getting some TLC. This is an environmental stewardship project that can be tackled by the whole family.

Native plants will be used where possible, providing food and shelter for the native birds and other wildlife. As well as the native plant species, the group will be planting small trees and an assortment of herbs, and these will be selected to withstand the location’s seasonal flooding.

Close-toed shoes and sturdy gloves are highly recommended, and social distancing measures will be followed. The participants have been asked to not share the tools they will be using, and a request has been made that they bring their own water.

A project like this, which is both fun and rewarding, can be a great idea for a family outing. Sometimes, Promotional Products are given to each participant in an event like this, and if they are reusable, they fit in well with the overall theme of the activity.

The Trout Lake Planting Event will be taking place on October 17th, from 10:00am until 12:00pm, and all assistance will be welcome.
