Burnaby foraging workshop to welcome area moms

Foraging for wild food can add some new ingredients to a household’s menu, and an upcoming Burnaby event will teach some of the basic practices followed by the ethical forager.

Those who register for the Mother's Day Weekend foraging excursion will walk away with a better understanding of the edible plants that can be found in their home area. The leader of the outing will be both a nutritionist and herbalist, and the session will be suited to beginners.

The participants will learn how to find, identify, harvest and prepare wild foods, though the organizers have highlighted that fungi will not be included. It is intended to be a demonstration-type session, and the ticket price includes 90 minutes of learning, cups of herbal tea and a PDF version of the information provided. Asking questions will be encouraged.

Foraging and other sustainable practices have become increasingly popular in recent years, and an organized class, workshop or other outing provides a way to pick up some new skills. Providing the attendees with a pad and promotional Pens will make it simple for them to jot down any points or other notes they would like to keep.

The Burnaby Foraging Workshop will begin at 2:00 pm May 11th. Participants should meet at Deer Lake Park, 5435 Sperling Avenue. The workshop will finish at 3:30 pm.
