One of St. Albert’s biggest annual events will be back for another year, as the Rainmaker Festival returns for its 56th edition.
The centrepiece of the festival is the annual Rainmaker Rodeo Parade, featuring displays from local bands and organizations and weaving its way through downtown St. Albert. Family entertainment will be provided by Dr. Von Houligan’s Family Extravaganza, an old-school traveling variety show held under a circus big top.
This year’s Rainmaker Country Concert will be headlined by Juno-winning and platinum-selling artist Jesse Moskaluke, with supporting artists Nice Horse, Olivia Rose, and Taylor-Rae. The annual festival is hosted by the St. Albert Family of Kin and its associated clubs, and aims to be a family friendly affair with free admission for some events.
The festival area will contain a carnival-style midway, as well as a marketplace featuring local food trucks and vendors offering locally produced art, clothing, artisanal jewellery, and more. Local festivals and carnivals such as this offer consumers a chance to sample the best of local small business, with booths often using colourful banner printing and special offers to stand out from the crowd. The weekend will also feature a rodeo with cowboys and cowgirls from around Alberta, a Pancake Breakfast and other events.
The 2023 Rainmaker Festival will take place between May 26 and 28 at the Kinsmen Fair Grounds.
