Plaza Series set for St. Albert

The Plaza Series of free summer concerts is scheduled to return to St. Albert this July, featuring a variety of musical styles.

The annual series is presented by the Arden Theatre and consists of family-friendly shows based around a musical theme. The debut concert is dubbed “Kickin’ Brass and Fiddle Sass”, and features performances by Cree and Metis neo-traditional signer Zach Moostoos-Willier and “brass party band “Brasstactics.” The following week will feature singer-songwriter and slide guitarist Sean Pinchin and the Mariachi Loco ensemble.

Other concerts taking place as part of the series include themes like “Baghdad to Yellowknife: Jazz Around the World”, “Velvet Voices” and “Songs from a Paris Cafe.” The outdoor concerts will run through August and conclude with Amplify Night, featuring performers from the Alberta-based youth arts program. This show will include the “cosmic folk duo” Halfway Home and ensemble group Say You Knew Them When.

Spectators are encouraged to bring their own blanket, chair or seat for the outdoor show, and to arrive early as spots are first-come first-served. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be for sale. Concert series like these are popular summer attractions, often using flyer printing or radio advertising to reach a grassroots audience.

The 2026 Plaza Series will take place every Thursday evening between July 2 and August 27 at St. Albert Place.
