The Luke’s Legacy Fun Run will be taking place in St. Albert this September, looking to support a good cause while offering an opportunity for outdoor exercise and fun.
The run will be across a five-kilometre distance throughout St. Albert, with participants invited to run or walk at whatever pace is comfortable to them. There is also a one-kilometre track for younger children. Runners can arrive early for a coffee or hot chocolate, followed by the official welcome and warmup. This will be the eighth annual edition of the Fun Run.
After the race, there will be a celebration area with outdoor games and drawings for door prizes. Young visitors can have their face painted and get refreshments afterward. Registrants can also receive a commemorative T-shirt for the occasion. Runs and other fundraising events often use printing services to create clothing items and other goods to celebrate the occasion.
The run is hosted in memory of local child Luke Abma. Funds will go towards the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation to provide pediatric care in St. Albert and beyond. Runners are encouraged to solicit donations from friends and family, with an online leader board for donors. The top three fundraisers will receive a prize at the race ceremony.
The 2026 Luke’s Legacy Run will take place at Lion’s Park in St. Albert on the morning of September 27.
