St. Albert to celebrate Night of Artists

One of St. Albert’s biggest festivals will return this March, as the Night of Artists aims to celebrate local creators.

Night of Artists will take the form of an “Artwalk”, in which local artists can display their work in an easily walkable public setting. Artists can use a variety of media including oil, clay, acrylic paint, and photography. The event is also designed to include the art of music, with acoustic concerts performed throughout the week. Workshops, book signings, and presentations could also be included in this space. Events such of this can be a major opportunity for local creators, who use items like Business Cards and social media to make connections with potential buyers and other artists

The event will be accompanied by the St. Albert Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts, which recognizes residents with honours such as the St. Albert Chamber Emerging Artist Award and the Excellence in Arts Teaching Awards. The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award will also be permanently entered into the Cultural Wall of Fame. Past honourees include cultural director Carol Watamaniuk, illustrator Lewis Lavoie, and musician Lillian Upright. The Night of Artists organization also holds events throughout the year and maintains a permanent gallery. Money raised goes towards the Amy’s House charity.

The 2023 Night of Artists will take place at the Bonnie Doon Centre from March 17 to 19.
