St. Albert organizations to celebrate Sports Day

St. Albert will be celebrating Sports Day this November with a special event aiming to highlight local athletic programs and get residents involved.

The free event will feature displays and demonstrations from dozens of St. Albert organizations promoting physical recreation. These will include participatory “try it” events as well as exhibitions of skill. Groups involved include Wonderfun Hockey St. Albert, Sturgeon Kendo Dojo, St. Albert Minor Football Association, and the St. Albert Rams Lacrosse Club. Visitors can also meet and greet with organization representatives and learn about local volunteering and coaching opportunities, as well as classes, recreational leagues, and more in the upcoming indoor sports season.

The Sports Day event will also be collecting new or gently used sports equipment to help those without the funds to purchase them in Northern Alberta. The Sport Central organization will have a drop-off box for equipment within Servus Place from October 23 to November 6. Organizations at events like this often use tools like poster printing and QR Codes to provide further information and catch the eye. The Sports Day event is held in concert with Illuminate Challenge, a month-long initiative designed to promote fitness and raise money to combat bullying and other social issues.

St. Albert’s Sports Day celebration will take place on November 2 at Servus Credit Union Place.
