St. Albert market returns bigger than ever

St. Albert is home to one of Alberta’s largest farmers’ markets, and this month saw the event make a triumphant return with new initiatives.

The weekly market hosts over 250 visitors and is estimated to draw an average of 20,000 visitors each Saturday from across the metro area. Products on offer range from art and home decor to woodworking and personal care items. There are also a wide variety of food-related vendors, including food trucks serving hot meals and local farmers offering fresh ingredients. Among the vendor list are local businesses like Back to Nature Apparel, Mpungu African Touch, and Provencal Stained Glass Designs, showing off the diversity of Southern Alberta.

The market area this year also features areas designed for family visits, including a bouncy house and other children’s entertainment. The Alberta Farmer’s Market Association will be holding a Market Buds program in association with the St. Albert market and public library, giving children the opportunity to interact with food through activities such as cooking and gardening. The market will also be holding a number of theme days to promote cultural inclusion, including Canada Day, Bee Day, and Yellow Ribbon Day in July alone. Markets and other events often use banner printing and special outfits to mark days like this.

The 2023 St. Albert Farmers’ Market season launched on June 10 with a parade, and will continue to take place every Saturday on St. Anne Street until October 7.
