St. Albert event to provide taste of African culture
The Taste of Igboland event will be returning to St. Albert this June, providing a sample of the Igbo African cultural group.
The family-friendly event is hosted by the Igboland Cultural Association of Edmonton, representing the Igbo culture that originates in what is now southern Nigeria. There will be information and storytelling on the Igbo language, fashion, food, arts, and crafts. There will also be a fashion show featuring traditional attire, and the opportunity to sample culinary delicacies.
The show will also feature live cultural dance and musical performances, with the goal of representing different parts of Igboland. Promotional materials can emphasize the opportunity to experience a new or familiar culture:
This is the second Taste of Igboland event, following a successful first instalment in 2023. Cultural events like this often use methods like banner printing and music to help transport visitors to another place. The ICAE organization was founded in 2002 and helps promote Igbo culture and businesses in Alberta.
The second Taste of Igboland event (Taste of Igboland 2.0) will take place on the afternoon of June 28, at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert.
