St. Albert event to amplify young artists
St. Albert will be showcasing its Amplify program for young artists and creators this July in a special event featuring local talent.
The outdoor event, called Illuminate, features performances from musical artists and others that are part of the program. Visual artists will also face off in an “art battle”, while there will be an exhibit for local photography. Visitors can also take part in interactive activities like chalk art, face painting, and do-it-yourself art stations. Amplify is youth-run and run by a council of volunteers aged 12 and up, with the goal of helping them develop their artistic school and develop work dealing with issues such as youth mental health, and other topics facing the next generation. The program’s mission statement says that
Residents of all ages are encouraged to take in the free show, and are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to spread out in the outdoor area. Local programs like this often use methods like social media and flyer printing to help raise awareness and inform people of their benefits.
